The Graduate Centre for Study of Drama presents Two by Pirandello: An Evening of One-Act Plays, marking the 75th anniversary of the passing of Luigi Pirandello, a Nobel Prize winning dramatist, novelist and short-story writer.
Sicilian Limes – Lumíe de Sicilia and The Man with the Flower in his Mouth – L’uomo dal Fiore in Bocca, two of Luigi Pirandello’s stunningly simple and emotionally-charged pieces, are reinvigorated through these new translations by Laura Ann Lucci. Both works exquisitely explore the concept of time – time spent searching for love, and the tragedy of time running out. Both Sicilian Limes and The Man with the Flower in his Mouth are presented in two very different interpretations, beautifully capturing the complexity and depth of Pirandello’s work.
Sicilian Limes, under the direction of Grace Smith, features Rebecca Biason, Sarah Cody, Matthew Gin, Laura Hendrickson and Tom McGee. The Man with the Flower in his Mouth, under the direction of Michael Reinhart, features Karl Czarny, Julian Munds, Maria Giulia Salvia and Kristen Zaza. Set Design is by Rolla Bahsous, Costume Design by Becky Bridger, Sound Design by David Jansen and Light Design by Paul Stoesser.
