The Northrop Frye Centre proudly presents The Brian Merrilees Lecture, “The Ethical Turn in Literary Criticism: A Brilliant New Approach or an Assault on the Humanities?” by Prof. William Calin (University of Florida) together with the generous support of the Department of French, the Centre for Medieval Studies, and Victoria College. Please join us for this talk, which is given in memory and honour of Prof. Brian Merrilees, a much-loved colleague and an exemplary scholar.
Prof. Calin will examine the ethical approach in literary criticism while discussing François Rabelais, Louis Aragon, the Breton-language writer Roparz Hemon, Paul de Man, and The Song of Roland.
