Appointment of Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs

The Board of Governors has approved the appointment of Dr. Jill Scott as Provost and Vice-President, Academic Affairs, for a five-year term, starting on September 1, 2019.

Dr. Jill Scott (BA, University of Manitoba; MA, Carleton University; PhD, University of Toronto) is a full professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Culture at Queen’s University, where she also serves as Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) and Interim Associate Vice-Principal (International).

Throughout her career, Dr. Scott has held various academic and administrative positions. These include professor at the University of Toronto and Head of the Department of German as well as Associate Head and Undergraduate Chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Culture at Queen’s University.

Dr. Scott possesses considerable experience in the university sector, having led various institutional strategic planning initiatives, including those related to Truth and Reconciliation and to equity, diversity and inclusion in all of its forms.

President Jacques Frémont congratulates Dr. Scott for her nomination and offers his best wishes for success in her new position.
